About the Faculty

Today's faculty is a continuation of the faculties of "Trade" and "Trade and Transport". Since 1991 it has been established as the Faculty of "Infrastructure", later changing its name to "Infrastructure and Services" and on 31.05.1995 by decision of the Academic Council it was renamed the Faculty of "Infrastructure Economics" as an independent unit at the UNWE. It educates students in seven specialties in bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs.

The main activity of the faculty is the training in bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs and the preparation of specialists in the organization and management of activities related to the development of infrastructure, the management of infrastructure projects and public administration.

The faculty prepares specialists and managers for the most intensively developing sector of the Bulgarian economy - the infrastructure sector, where the majority of budget investments and investments under European funds are directed.

Тhe scientific conference with international participation for students and doctoral candidates "Infrastructure: Business and Communications" is traditional for the Faculty of Infrastructure Economics at the University of National and World Economy. The conference is a successor to the International Student Scientific Conference "Infrastructure: Business and Communications", in whose ten events over 500 students from the faculty, as well as from other foreign higher education institutions from France, Romania, Poland, Spain, etc. participated. Given the growing number of PhD students trained at the faculty (over 120), since the fifth edition of the conference in 2016, it has expanded its scope of potential participants to include PhD students from the faculty, as well as PhD students external to UNSS. The present, Fourteenth scientific conference with international participation for students and PhD students, aims to provide a forum where, along with the original developments of the students, the results of the scientific research work of the PhD students can be presented and discussed. The conference is focused on the problems of infrastructure development in our country, which include a wide range of aspects related to the creation of a suitable business environment for the development of our economy and the application of modern practices in areas such as transport, energy, logistics, trade, defence and security, tourism and communications.

The Fourteenth Scientific Conference with International Participation for Students and PhD Students will be held on April 22, 2026 at the University of National and World Economy.

IImportant dates and order of participation

I. For students and doctoral students studying in specialties at the Faculty of Infrastructure Economics

The participation of students and doctoral students from the Faculty of Infrastructure Economics is organized by departments, in accordance with the thematic areas of the conference.

Participation procedure:

• The application for participation is made through a lecturer from the department where the participant is studying.

• The topic and content of the report are coordinated with a scientific supervisor / lecturer from the relevant department.

• The finished report is submitted to the scientific secretary of the department where the participant is studying.

Deadline for submitting a report:

until March 27, 2026

There is no participation fee for participants from the Faculty of Infrastructure Economics.

II. For students and doctoral students who are NOT studying in specialties at the UNWE

Participation procedure:

• Candidates should orient themselves to the thematic area in which their report falls.

• Application for participation and submission of the report is made through the scientific secretary of the relevant department responsible for the selected thematic area.

• The report is submitted in its completed form, and for participants external to the UNWE, a copy of a document for paid participation fee is also attached.

Participation fee for external participants:
