History

The Faculty of General Economics (FGE) was established in 1958.

The training in FGE offers fundamental economic knowledge, which is an essential part of the training in the following main fields: Introduction to the economic theory and the economic analysis, Mechanisms of market economy, International economics, Employment, Human resources, Social cohesion, Intellectual property, Sociology, Pedagogy.

The profiled training in a number of specialties, on the other hand, facilitates the acquirement of skills and knowledge that are necessary for the successful realization of the students, who graduate the specialties of the faculty. They find professional realization as specialists, experts and managers in the areas of business and public administration, in international companies, consultancy organizations, specialized agencies, financial institutions and international organizations.

The successful realization of the training process is further facilitated by the monographs and scientific works of the faculty lecturers, the majority of whom are renowned specialists in the area of Bulgarian economic science as well as practicians and consultants at macro-, regional and company levels in various socio-economic fields.

A wide range of research activities are also carried out in the faculty, dealing with up-to-date issues connected with the development of the Bulgarian economy: economic growth, life standard, employment, industrial relations, intellectual property, etc.
